A very good friend of mine, Jen, loves animals.  She has a huge soft spot for dogs, in particular.  One day, while working as an outside sales rep, she came across a lost dog on the side of the highway.  She immediately pulled over and coersed this scared dog into her car.  The fear of the dog having a disease or possibly biting her never even crossed her mind.  Her only thought was that this poor dog was lost and if she didn't pick him up and get him somewhere safe he would probably end up hurt or killed on the highway.  Once she got him into her car she then started looking up the nearest veterinarian's office, on her phone.  She called 2 or 3 different vets and each one said that they did not have room.  She finally found an animal shelter and carried the dog in to see if anyone could help.  They stated that they were full but that they had a woman who always donated dog food to their shelter, so they gave her a call.  In the end, the dog was no longer at risk of being hurt and ultimately was given a real chance at being matched with a good family.  Jen's selfless & caring act of kindness is one that I admire.
